" In a full class of 20, Pro-Science has allowed us to target specific pupils, providing one-to-one or small group support where pupils are struggling with specific areas. This has had a positive impact on our results. We occasionally have learning support assistants, but when doing science... due to (the undergraduates’) physics backgrounds, that's where they made a real difference. I also had more questions from students about studying physics and engineering at University than I had previously."
- David Dalgleish, Head of Physics, St Augustine's RC High School
"One excellent Pro Science student has worked with us to support a young primary school aged pupil who's following an accelerated physics program. She also provided after school, pre-exam study support to our pupils on the run up to their SQA exams. We have worked with a number of Pro Science students now and have never failed to be impressed. On each occasion they have been motivated, hardworking and brilliant with our students."
- Jill Pringle, Head of Physics, James Gillespie's High School
"We have found our student to be highly motivated, organised and an excellent communicator. She is keen to get fully involved in class and happily leads discussions, helps with practical work and assists with classroom tasks. We have also found that our student has brought some knowledge to the classroom which would have otherwise been missing. We
will definitely continue being part of the Pro Science team and I
would suspect that many other schools and STEM departments would want
to participate if they knew the benefits to be gained. As busy
teachers we have found the whole process to be very straightforward
to manage. I would highly recommend this to other schools!"
